Laser Tattoo Removal

While you may have once thought that pretty blue dolphin, heart, skull and crossbones, or his or her name permanently planted in your skin was a good idea, maybe now…not so much. Smooth Skin Centers is one of Denver’s few laser centers to use the Candela-manufactured Alex TriVantage tattoo removal laser. Treatment time is much quicker than most lasers and the number of treatments is typically fewer because of the incredible power and precision of the three different wavelengths found in this beauty. Change your look and change your life….erase the tattoos that are stopping you from living your life to its fullest!

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works: Touted by the tattoo removal industry as the best at removing the most colors with the least amount of healing time, the ATV’s laser treatment breaks down the colors of your unwanted tattoo without leaving any scars or other unwanted discolorations.

The Q-switched laser removes the tattoo by delivering laser light into the skin in very short bursts of energy, creating photo-acoustical effect that fragments the ink and allows the body’s natural process of phagocytosis to eliminate the dispersed ink particles. Since laser light is monochromatic, different wavelengths are required to treat different tattoo colors. We’re in luck! The ATV has 3 different wavelengths!

In general Q-switched alexandrite lasers like the Alex laser are effective on the more common green, blue, and black tattoo inks, while Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers favor red, blue, and black pigments. The ATV from Candela is simple in its design and efficacious in it use. By selecting the proper spot size and fluence parameters and by taking advantage of the ATV 5 Hz repetition rate, tattoos are treated quickly and effectively.

Laser tattoo removal at Smooth Skin Centers represents the treatment modality of choice, clearly due to the safety and efficacy afforded by our noninvasive, laser light therapy.

Preparation for the Treatment:

– The day prior to your laser treatment, please shave any hair on the treatment area.
– Avoid being in the sun without sunscreen on the area(s) you’re having treated for seven days prior to your treatment.
– Also, don’t use Retin A on the area(s) to be treated for seven days prior to your treatment.
– Finally, if you are using Accutane, please let us know prior to scheduling your appointment.
– Print, complete and bring the Client Information and Medical History, as well as Laser Treatment Consent found here to your appointment.

Length of Time for the Treatment: The time of the treatment depends on the size and number of colors in the tattoo. An Oreo cookie-sized tattoo can take as little as 10 minutes to treat. Larger tattoos may take 30 minutes or more.

After the Treatment: The clinical endpoint is usually swelling. The area may also have some pinpoint bleeding and/or blisters. The technician will dress your tattoo with appropriate salves and bandages. You should keep the treated tattoo away from any sun exposure while it is healing. We also recommend that you keep any wounds clean, dry, and bandaged while they are healing.
